The guidelines clarify the journal’s scope, editorial policies, submission process, and the responsibilities of ELGI Publishing, section editors, reviewers, and authors.

1.Registration on the BJOP’s website
Authors, editors and reviewers are required to complete their registration on the journal’s official website.
2.Types of Articles Accepted
The BJOP publishes articles applying knowledge from Agricultural Sciences, Marketing, Business Administration, Law, Economics, and related fields to solve problems related to food marketing and agribusiness.
Accepted:
- Original research articles
- Review articles with established methodologies
Not accepted:
- Opinion pieces
- Scientific notes or micro-studies
- Narrative reviews without methodological rigor
- Experience reports without scientific grounding
- Manuscripts with incoherent language or grammatical errors
All texts must be written fluently, clearly, and correctly, in accordance with international indexing standards.
3.Language and Proficiency Requirements
The BJOP accepts articles in Portuguese, English, and Spanish.
For non-native speakers:
- English: texts written with fluency equivalent to TOEFL or IELTS.
- Spanish: texts written with fluency equivalent to DELE, SIELE, or DIE.
The BJOP offers professional translation services (paid separately).

4.Average Publication Time
The journal aims for the average time between manuscript submission and article publication is approximately four months.
5.Submission Checklist
Before submitting your manuscript, the author must:
- Read the journal’s Policies and Guidelines
- Download and use the required templates, found in the “Submission Guide” section
- Format the manuscript using the journal’s template

Files that do not meet formatting requirements will be rejected.
6.Focus and Scope
The BJOP is dedicated to advancing scientific knowledge through the publication of original research articles, systematic reviews, and critical essays that explore the Fabaceae family in its multiple dimensions. Authors should refer to the thematic axes available in the submission guide to ensure alignment with the journal’s scope.
7.Publication Frequency
The BJOP publishes three issues per year:
- January–April
- May–August
- September–December
Special issues may be published for academic events. See the “Call for Papers” section.

9.Author Responsibilities
Authors must:
- Follow the ethical and editorial guidelines in the Editorial Best Practices Manual
- Monitor editorial decisions and communication through email (including spam folders) and the submission platform
- Declare any conflicts of interest
- Present data and methods clearly, enabling reproducibility
- Promptly report errors discovered post-publication
- Ensure manuscript originality – no duplicate or simultaneous submissions are allowed.
10.Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)
- AI may only be used to improve language and clarity.
- The use of AI is prohibited for analyzing results, methodologies, and conclusions.
- Authors are solely responsible for the content.
11.Research Ethics
For studies involving humans or animals, prior ethics committee approval is required.
Include the ethics statement in the “Ethical Considerations” section after the Conclusion, for example:
Studies Involving Animals
“Animal care and handling procedures followed the guidelines of the Animal Ethics Committee. (Insert committee name and approval number).”
Studies Involving Human Subjects
“I confirm that all legally required consents were obtained to publish personal data or images of study participants. The study was approved by [insert committee name and approval number]. I agree to provide the BJOP with copies of these documents upon request.”
12.Required Declarations
Must be attached to the manuscript (signed and scanned as PDFs):

13.Peer Review Process
All manuscripts undergo a rigorous double-blind peer review process.
The Editor-in-Chief first verifies the manuscript’s compliance with the journal’s scope and assigns it to the appropriate Section Editors.
The Section Editors then invite external reviewers with recognized expertise in the subject matter of the article.
Reviewers are granted 30 days to evaluate the manuscript.
During the review process, authors are given 15 days to address and incorporate the corrections or suggestions proposed by the reviewers.
Upon completion of the evaluation, the Section Editor issues the final decision—acceptance or rejection—within 10 days.
14.Manuscript Formatting and Structure
Manuscripts must include:
- Introduction
- Literature Review
- Methodology
- Results and Discussion
- Conclusion
- Acknowledgments (optional)
- References
If applicable:
- Ethical Considerations
- Supplementary Information (e.g., AI use disclosure)

15.After Acceptance
Authors must pay the Article Processing Charge (APC) for the manuscript to proceed to the editing and publication stages.
15.1 APC Payment Receipt
The author must send an email to submission@elgipublishing.com with the following format:
Subject: APC Payment Receipt - BJOP
Email body: Attach the receipt, provide the author’s full name, article title, and submission number.
16.Post-Acceptance Process
16.1 Proofreading
Authors review the final version before publication.
Only minor changes to:
- Spelling
- Style
- Formatting
No content changes allowed at this stage.
16.2Corrections
At the proofreading stage, authors have up to 7 days to submit corrections.
16.3 Final Version
After the corrections have been made, the author submits the final version through the system.
The editorial team has up to 7 days to complete the publication of the article.
16.4Publication
Once approved and typeset, the article is published in the BJOP and submitted for indexing.
17.DOI
Each published article receives a DOI (Digital Object Identifier) — a unique and permanent identifier that facilitates citation and tracking across academic platforms.
