Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text follows the style standards and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Article Template.

Author Guidelines

The Agribusiness and Agri-food Marketing Journal - AAMJ provides in this section all guidelines and policies related to the manuscript submission process, following its editorial workflow.

Submission Categories

AAMJ accepts submissions in three distinct categories:

1.Communications Purpose:

A space dedicated to disseminating current work with objective, quick, and accessible reading.

Classification criteria: Manuscripts between 4 and 8 pages, regardless of the topic, will automatically be classified in this category.

Accepted contribution types:

  • Short articles
  • Experience reports
  • Scientific notes
  • Bibliographic or documentary reviews

Submission procedures: The author(s) must download, complete, sign, and attach the Mandatory Submission Documents available on the website at the time of submission. The topic must be within the journal's guiding principles.

Important: The absence of any required document will result in the outright rejection of the manuscript.

2.Full Articles

Classification criteria: Manuscripts between 12 until 20 pages.

Submission procedures: The author(s) must download, complete, sign, and attach the Mandatory Submission Documents available on the website at the time of submission. The topic must be within the journal's guiding principles.

Important: Failure to provide any of the required documents will result in rejection of the submission.

3.Abstracts and Extended Abstracts from Conference Proceedings, Seminars, and Events

Eligibility criteria: abstracts and extended abstracts.

Submission procedures: The event coordinator should contact the editor-in-chief to submit abstracts. The event must align with the journal's theme. The coordinator should download the Mandatory Submission Documents. Complete, sign, and attach them at the time of submission on the website.

Important: The theme must be within the journal's guiding principles. Failure to provide any of the required documents will result in rejection of the submission.

1.Agri-Food Economics– Examination of the economic mechanisms shaping agro-industrial markets, including pricing strategies, commercialization practices, and international trade in agri-food products.

2.Marketing in Agri-Food Systems – Analysis of food consumption trends, consumer preferences and perceptions of value, and their implications for sustainable development and innovation in agri-food supply chains.

3.Management and Strategy in Agro-Industrial Systems – Analysis of organizational dynamics, cooperation networks, governance models, and management strategies aimed at competitiveness, resilience, and sustainability in agro-industrial organizations.

4.Innovation and Value Creation in Agri-Food Systems – Investigation of innovative strategies and practices that strengthen production chains, promote territorial development, and generate shared value among producers, enterprises, and consumers across multiple dimensions

5.Agribusiness, Sustainability, and Technological Transformation – Study of the integration of emerging technologies and sustainable practices driving the transition toward responsible production models that combine innovation, efficiency, and environmental stewardship in the agro-industrial sector.

6.Public Policies, Planning, and Territorial Development – Study of policy design and evaluation mechanisms related to rural, regional, and territorial development, emphasizing the integration between the State, civil society, and the productive sector.

7.Family Farming, Entrepreneurship, and Food Security – Discussion of public policies, certifications, local markets, and social innovation initiatives that empower family farming as a foundation for inclusive and sustainable rural development.

8.Technology, Innovation, and Digitalization in Agribusiness – Exploration of digital transformation and the application of smart technologies in process optimization, traceability, and sustainability within agro-industrial production systems.

9.Environment, Climate, and Sustainable Development – Reflection on renewable energies, rational management of natural resources, climate change mitigation, and the promotion of environmentally balanced production systems.

10.Governance and Sustainability in Productive Chains – Study of ethical, economic, social, and environmental dimensions of sustainability; collaborative governance, certification, corporate responsibility, and institutional partnerships in value chains.

11.Nutrition – Food and nutritional security; identity and social practices associated with food.

12.Law and Regulation in Agribusiness – Study of the legal dimensions of agribusiness and food consumption relations, including the regulation of agro-industrial chains, agricultural contracts, environmental liability, legal instruments promoting sustainability and equity in agri-food trade.

Submission Requirements

Before submitting the manuscript, authors must ensure that:

  1. The contribution is original and unpublished, and is not being reviewed by another journal.
  2. The manuscript does not include authorship identification in the required template.
  3. All required templates (in Portuguese, English, or Spanish) have been completed correctly and follow the journal's guidelines.
  4. The article file is in Microsoft Word format.
  5. The text follows the formatting, style, and citation guidelines established in the journal's template and the Manual of Good Editorial Practices.
  6. Conflicts of interest must be declared.
  7. For research involving humans, animals, or sensitive populations, ethical procedures have been followed, and the ethics committee approval number is stated in the methodology.
  8. All authors agree to the submission and take responsibility for the integrity of the content presented.

Mandatory Submission Documents

Authors must access the Policies and Guidelines section. The standardized templates are available, as per the ELGI Publishing’s  Editorial Best Practices Manual.

Contains all guidelines on formatting, tables, figures, citations, and references.

3.Conflict of Interest Declaration

Mandatory even if no conflicts exist. If conflicts exist, supporting documentation must be attached as a supplementary PDF.

4.Declaration of Ethical Procedures: Declares that the research presented was conducted in accordance with ethical principles. Must include the protocol number and ethics committee approval. Must be downloaded, completed, signed, scanned in PDF format, and attached to the submission.

5.Data Use Declaration: Mandatory for processing data provided by AAMJ. Must be downloaded, completed, signed, scanned in PDF format, and attached to the submission.

About the Submission

The manuscript must be submitted in WORD format.

Files that do not meet the journal’s standards (e.g., missing headers, improper formatting) will be rejected without review.

After the manuscript is approved for publication, payment of the Article Processing Charge (APC) will be required.

Article Processing Charges (APC)

 AAMJ follows a full open-access model, with no costs to readers. The publication, maintenance, and dissemination of articles involve expenses covered by the Article Processing Charge (APC).

What the APC covers:

  • Editorial and administrative management
  • Maintenance of the online system and website
  • Indexing in scientific databases
  • DOI (Digital Object Identifier) assignment.

APC Payment Receipt

The author must send an email to submission@elgipublishing.com  with the following format:

Email body: Attach the receipt, provide the author’s full name, article title, and submission number.

Fees and Payment Methods

  • APC rates are listed in the Fees section.
  • Payments via PayPal incur an additional service fee and taxes.
  • Countries served by PayPal: https://www.paypal.com/us/webapps/mpp/country-worldwide
  • International bank transfers may be subject to taxes paid by the payer.
  • In Brazil, payment via PIX is available.

APC Discounts

Authors residing and affiliated with institutions in low-income countries (as per the World Bank) are eligible for APC discounts.
